D. Keith Grossman Chairman, Ceo & President

D. Keith Grossman was named CEO and President of Nevro in March of 2019. Mr. Grossman has over 30 years of experience in the medical device field. He served most recently, and for the second time, as the President, Chief Executive Officer and director of Thoratec Corporation, leading up to its 2015 sale to St. Jude Medical. Prior to Thoratec, he served as President, Chief Executive Officer and director of Conceptus, a women’s health medical device company, leading up to its sale to Bayer Healthcare. Prior to Conceptus, Mr. Grossman served as managing director of TPG (Texas Pacific Group), a private equity firm, as a member of its healthcare investment team. Prior to TPG, Mr. Grossman served as Thoratec’s President, Chief Executive Officer and director for the first ten years of its growth as a commercial company. Mr. Grossman currently serves as Vice Chairman of Alcon, Inc. and Chairman of Outset Medical, Inc. and previously served as a member of the Board of directors of Intuitive Surgical, Inc., Kyphon, Inc., ViewRay, Inc., Zeltiq, Inc and a number of privately held medical device companies. Mr. Grossman received a B.S. in life sciences from The Ohio State University and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Rod MacLeod Chief Financial Officer

Rod MacLeod was appointed Chief Financial Officer in June of 2020. Mr. MacLeod joins Nevro with more than 25 years of experience in financial and executive leadership roles in healthcare and technology. Most recently he served as Vice President of Finance of Stryker Endoscopy, a division of Stryker Corp that develops and manufactures medical devices used in minimally invasive surgical procedures. During his 16-year career at Stryker Endoscopy, Mr. MacLeod played a key role in growing the division from $500 million to $1.8 billion in revenue. Prior to this role, Mr. MacLeod was Controller for Stryker Endoscopy. Previously, Mr. MacLeod was Vice President of Finance and Administration at Lumenare Networks, a Sunnyvale-based software company. Earlier in his career, Mr. MacLeod was Financial Manager/Controller at United Airlines and was a Senior Operational and Audit Consultant at Arthur Andersen & Co. Rod MacLeod graduated from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University with a Master of Management degree and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Harvard University.

David CarawayMD, PhD Chief Medical Officer

David Caraway, MD, PhD joined Nevro in 2014 and serves as Nevro’s Chief Medical Officer. Prior to joining Nevro, Dr. Caraway was the CEO of The Center for Pain Relief, Tri-State, L.L.C., in partnership with St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Dr. Caraway has maintained an active medical practice for over 20 years and has held leadership positions in the North American Neuromodulation and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. As a nationally recognized expert in the treatment of chronic pain, he has lectured regionally, nationally, and internationally in the field of Interventional Pain Medicine and authored numerous publications in this field. Dr. Caraway received a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia School of Engineering, an MD from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Virginia Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He also received post-graduate training in Anesthesiology and Pain Management from the University of Virginia. Dr. Caraway is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Lori Ciano Chief Human Resources Officer

Lori Ciano joined Nevro in June of 2019 and serves as Chief Human Resources Officer. Ms Ciano brings more than 15 years of experience as a senior human resources leader in both the life sciences and technology industries. Prior to joining Nevro, Ms. Ciano was Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Dermira, a Menlo Park-based biotechnology company. Prior to Dermira, Lori served as a consultant specializing in coaching and counsel around talent acquisition and management, compensation and benefits, and culture to executive and HR teams. Previously, she served as Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Human Resources Officer at Thoratec Corporation. Ms. Ciano has also led HR organizations at Conceptus, Affymetrix, and Novellus Systems. She began her career at Varian where she served in marketing and business development roles. Lori Ciano earned an M.S. in psychology from JFK University, an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University, and a B.S. in marketing from San José State University.

Prior to Thoratec, Ms. Pellegrini served in progressively responsible global business development, strategy and commercial roles at Johnson & Johnson. Ms. Pellegrini currently serves on the Board of Directors of Acutus Medical. Niamh Pellegrini graduated from Santa Clara University with an M.B.A and a B.S. in finance.

Kashif Rashid General Counsel

Kashif Rashid joined Nevro in 2017 and serves as General Counsel of the company. Mr. Rashid has over 20 years of broad legal experience, with a particular focus in medical devices and healthcare. Mr. Rashid previously served as Deputy General Counsel at St. Jude Medical, a medical device company, where he had responsibility for various aspects of the legal function, including commercial, business development and corporate governance and securities. Following the acquisition of St. Jude Medical by Abbott, Mr. Rashid moved to Atara Biotherapeutics, a bay-area biotech focused on T-cell immunotherapy, as Vice President, Legal. Prior to St. Jude Medical, Mr. Rashid served in roles of increasing responsibility at General Electric's Healthcare business, Loews Corporation and Kaye Scholer, LLP. Mr. Rashid received his B.S. in Business Administration from The George Washington University and his JD from Georgetown University Law Center.

Christofer Christoforou joined Nevro in 2016 and serves as Vice President, Technical Operations. Prior to joining Nevro, Mr. Christoforou served as Vice President, Quality Engineering at Thoratec Corporation, a medical device company where he oversaw the operational, design and supplier quality engineering functions. From October 1999 to December 2014, Mr. Christoforou served in several leadership positions of increasing levels of responsibility at Thoratec Corporation. From April 1993 to October 1999, Mr. Christoforou served as a Manager of Engineering and various Engineering positions for United States Surgical Corporation, a producer of tools for use in surgery. Mr. Christoforou received a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and a MS in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland.

Julie Dewey is Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications.  Ms. Dewey has more than 25 years of experience in investor relations, corporate communications and marketing leadership roles in several medical technology companies. Prior to joining Nevro in November 2020, Ms. Dewey was Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer of Wright Medical Group, N.V., a leading orthopaedic company focused on extremities and biologics. Previously, Ms. Dewey held investor relations and marketing positions at leading healthcare technology companies including ev3 Inc., Kyphon Inc. and Thoratec Corporation. In 2020, Ms. Dewey was elected a Fellow of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), the professional association of corporate officers and investor relations consultants responsible for communication among corporate management, shareholders, securities analysts and other financial community constituents. Julie Dewey holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. Ms. Dewey also holds the Investor Relations Charter (IRC) credential.

Donald A. Middlebrook Vice President, Clinical, Regulatory and Quality

Donald Middlebrook joined Nevro in January 2020 and has over 30 years of leadership experience gaining global regulatory approvals, managing significant risk clinical trials and overseeing multi-site quality assurance/compliance programs for complex Class II and III medical device companies. He served most recently as a Regulatory and Clinical Affairs Consultant for St. Jude Medical following their acquisition of Thoratec Corporation in October 2015 and then for Abbott from January 2017 when the company acquired St. Jude Medical. Prior to this, Mr. Middlebrook served as Vice President of Corporate Quality and Regulatory Affairs for Thoratec. In the span of 19 years, he was responsible for worldwide regulatory approvals, leading numerous groundbreaking clinical trials and overseeing the company’s quality system activities. Before joining Thoratec, Mr. Middlebrook was Senior Director, Global Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance for Chiron Vision, involved in the manufacturing of ophthalmic surgical devices. Mr. Middlebrook spent 15 years with Baxter International in several progressing positions including Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance for the Cardiovascular Group (now known as Edwards Lifesciences). Mr. Middlebrook previously served as President and Chairman of the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS) Board of Directors, was elected as a RAPS Fellow and has continued to serve on several important committees for this society. Donald Middlebrook received a B.S. in Biology from California State University, Fullerton.

Jon Shear Vice President, Corporate Development

Jon Shear joined Nevro in April 2021 as Vice President, Corporate Development. Immediately prior to joining Nevro, Mr. Shear founded Westward Medtech, a consulting practice that assisted medtech company clients with strategic planning, decision making and transaction execution. Previously, Mr. Shear was appointed the Vice President of Business Development at Thoratec Corporation in 2002 where he originated and led the corporate development function through the sale of the company to St. Jude Medical in 2015. Prior to joining Thoratec, he spent 13 years with St. Jude Medical through a period of tremendous growth and diversification in a variety of finance, marketing, and healthcare services roles of increasing responsibility, and then serving in St. Jude's Corporate Business and Technology Development Group. Mr. Shear passed the Certified Public Accounting exam from the State of Minnesota and began his career in the financial services industry after receiving a BS degree in Accounting and Business Administration Finance from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Jon Shear has also completed Mergers and Acquisition programs at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Michael DeMane joined us in March 2011 and has served as our Chief Executive Officer and as Executive Chairman. Effective January 1, 2017, Mr. DeMane transitioned to non-executive Chairman of the Board. Mr. DeMane has served on the board of directors of several private companies since 2009, as well as on the board of directors of eResearch Technology, Inc., a public company specializing in contract research clinical services, from July 2008 to April 2012. From March 2009 to June 2010, Mr. DeMane served as a Senior Advisor to Thomas, McNerney & Partners, a healthcare venture firm. Mr. DeMane served as the Chief Operating Officer of Medtronic from August 2007 to April 2008. Prior to his COO role, Mr. DeMane served at Medtronic as Senior Vice President from May 2007 to August 2007, Senior Vice President and President: Europe, Canada, Latin America and Emerging Markets from August 2005 to May 2007, Senior Vice President and President: Spinal, ENT and Navigation from February 2002 to August 2005, and President, Spinal from January 2000 to February 2002. Prior to that, he was President at Interbody Technologies, a division of Medtronic Sofamor Danek, Inc., from June 1998 to December 1999. Frank Fischer has more than 40 years of senior management experience in the medical device industry. He co-founded NeuroPace in Dec 1997, led the company as its President and Chief Executive Officer from January 2000 thru July 2019, served on its Board of Directors since inception and is currently Chairman of the Board. Prior to joining NeuroPace, Mr. Fischer was President and Chief Executive Officer of Heartport, Inc., a cardiac surgery company, from May 1998 until September 1999 and served on Heartport’s Board of Directors. Previously, Mr. Fischer was President and Chief Executive Officer and a director of Ventritex, Inc., a company that pioneered implantable cardiac defibrillators, from July 1987 until the sale of the company to St. Jude Medical, Inc. in 1997. Before joining Ventritex, he held various management positions at Cordis Corporation from 1977 to 1987 in the cardiac and neurosurgical device areas, serving most recently as President of the Implantable Products Division. Currently he is a member of the Board of Directors of Nevro, Inc., the Board of Trustees of both Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Babson College as well as the Board of Directors of the Epilepsy Foundation of America. Sri Kosaraju has served on our Board since August 2021. Since October 2020, Mr. Kosaraju has served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Inscripta, Inc., a privately-held digital genome engineering company. Prior to joining Inscripta, Mr. Kosaraju was President of Penumbra, Inc., which he joined as CFO in May 2015. Earlier, Mr. Kosaraju spent 16 years at J.P. Morgan, where he was most recently Head of Healthcare Equity Capital Markets and Co-Head of Technology Equity Capital Markets. While at J.P. Morgan, he worked closely with and advised many emerging, high-growth life science and tech companies. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for Inscripta, Mr. Kosaraju also currently serves on the Board of Directors and is the Chair of the Audit Committee of 10x Genomics, Inc., a life science technology company building products to interrogate, understand and master biology to advance human health, and is on the Board of the non-profit Testing for America. Mr. Kosaraju earned his B.S in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Shawn T McCormick CFO, Aldevron

Shawn T McCormick has served on our Board since September 2014. Since November 2020, Mr. McCormick has served as Chief Financial Officer of Aldevron, a privately held company and global leader in the manufacture of plasmid DNA, mRNA and proteins. Aldevron was acquired by Danaher in August 2021. Mr. McCormick served as Chief Financial Officer of Tornier N.V., a public medical device company (“Tornier”), from September 2012 to October 2015 when Tornier merged with Wright Medical Group. From April 2011 to February 2012, Mr. McCormick was Chief Operating Officer of Lutonix, Inc., a medical device company acquired by C. R. Bard, Inc. in December 2011. From January 2009 to July 2010, Mr. McCormick served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of ev3 Inc., a public endovascular device company acquired by Covidien plc in July 2010. From 2002 to 2009, Mr. McCormick held various senior leadership positions at Medtronic Inc., including Vice President of Finance for Medtronic’s Spinal, Biologics, and Navigation business, Vice President, Corporate Technology and New Ventures and Vice President, Corporate Development. Prior to that, Mr. McCormick held various other positions with Medtronic, including Corporate Development Director, Principal Corporate Development Associate, Manager, Financial Analysis, Senior Financial Analyst and Senior Auditor. Prior to joining Medtronic, he spent four years with the public accounting firm KPMG Peat Marwick. Mr. O’Boyle currently serves as a director of GenMark Diagnostics, Inc. and Sientra, Inc. Previously, Mr. O’Boyle served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Advanced Biohealing Inc. a medical device company, from December 2010 until it was acquired in July 2011. Mr. O’Boyle served as CFO of NuVasive, Inc. from January 2003 until December 2009. Prior to that, Mr. O’Boyle served in various leadership positions during his six years with ChromaVision Medical Systems, Inc. Karen N. Prange Director

Karen Prange has served on our board since December 2019. Ms. Prange was most recently Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer for the Global Animal Health, Medical and Dental Surgical Group at Henry Schein and a member of its Executive Committee. In this role, she led a business that generated over $6 billion of revenue across three different business units, growing the business to above-market levels in all business segments. Prior to her role at Henry Schein, she was Senior Vice President of Boston Scientific and President of its Urology and Pelvic Health business and served as General Manager of the Micrus Endovascular and Codman Neurovascular business at Johnson & Johnson Company. In addition to general management roles, Ms. Prange has extensive experience in commercial and operational roles, including managing innovation pipelines and acquiring and integrating companies. Ms. Prange currently serves on the boards of Atricure, ViewRay Inc. and WS Audiology. She also serves as Strategic Advisor to Nuvo Group Ltd. and Industrial Advisor to EQT Group. Ms. Prange earned her B.S. in Business Administration with honors from University of Florida and has completed executive education coursework at UCLA Anderson School of Business and Smith College.

Sue Siegel Director

Sue Siegel has served on our board since December 2020. Previously, Ms. Siegel served as GE’s Chief Innovation Officer, CEO of GE Ventures & Licensing, and CEO of Healthymagination. Before GE, she was a VC General Partner at Mohr Davidow Ventures, leading investments in Life Sciences & Health. During the early days of the human genome project, Ms. Siegel led Affymetrix from a pre-revenue start up to a multi-billion publicly-listed company that helped shape the emerging genomics industry. Ms. Siegel earned her B.S. in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez and her M.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Boston University School of Medicine. Ms. Siegel currently serves on the boards of Illumina, Align Technology, the Kaiser Family Foundation, and is Chairman of the Board of Directors of MIT’s The Engine.

Brad Vale has served on our Board since March 2015. Dr. Vale was Head of Johnson & Johnson Development Company (“JJDC”), from January 2012 to March 2015. Dr. Vale joined JJDC in March 1992 and was appointed to the position of Vice President, Head of Venture Investments in April 2008. From September 1989 to March 1992, Dr. Vale supported Johnson & Johnson’s medical device businesses at the Corporate Office of Science and Technology as an Executive Director.
